Google Friend Connect
Google has just announced a new social networking tool that will allow any website to offer social networking tools: friends, reviews, posts, and much more. Right now, they are not accepting any new websites into the program, but you should sign up to be notified right away when they do begin accepting more. You'll also be able to view a video on how the new system will work. Really cool stuff here. Check it out at:

Ladies' Home Journal
Ladies' Home Journal is a monthly magazine for women over the age of 30 with 4.2 million subscribers. The magazine features seven sections: self (inner life and personal happiness), style (beauty, fashion, accents), family (marriage, pets, teens, money matters, intimacies, kids), home (home, decorating, crafts, clutter control), world (celebrities, change makers, social issues), health (health, diet, nutrition), and food (recipes, entertaining, chef interviews).

Send information to the editors in care of Ladies' Home Journal, 375 Lexington Avenue, New York NY 10017. Web: They prefer email submissions of story ideas and press releases: Include your name, address, and daytime phone number.

Their website includes photos, a forum for discussions, quizzes, free games, free offers, free newsletters, and more.

Internet video
Joan Stewart and Mike Stewart described the first nine ideas (from last week's tip) on how to use video in your publicity or marketing campaign. If you would like to know more about their ideas on how to use video, check out

On Wednesday, May 21st, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Joan will be interviewing videographer John Easton on 9 Clever Ways to Use Video to Become a Publicity Darling in Your Industry or Community. To listen in on this teleseminar, register at Joan's Publicity Hound website: The teleseminar costs $39.95.

While you are at her website, sign up for her Publicity Hound email newsletter. It's a good newsletter on how to get publicity.

African-American book clubs
Jeff Rivera, author of Forever My Lady and one of the most generous authors in publishing, has sent me a list of 191 book clubs that discuss
African-American books. He has kindly allowed me to share the list with
you. You can download the Excel file for free at the following address:

Also, check out the new article Jeff wrote on how to attract a first class literary agent:

He also offers a wonderful service connecting authors with agents. It's called Query Match: Agents. Just this past week, he has helped three authors get agents. For more information about this service, email Jeff at

Better Blogs Teleseminars
The Blog Squad ladies, Denise Wakeman and Patsi Krakoff, are presenting two 90-minute Better Business Blog Writing teleseminars on Monday and Wednesday next week. Their teleseminars will teach you how to get around to writing a great blog, find ideas for things to write about, create readable enticing headlines, and more.

If you want to jump-start or re-activate your blog, you should check out their $97 teleseminars. You can read more about them here:
