TweetBeep for More Customers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following tip is from Michael Volkin, author of Social Networking for Authors and webmaster of http://www.SellaTonofBooks.com . . .
How would you like potential customers emailing you? You can get that with Twitter, especially if you know how to use third-party applications like http://www.tweetbeep.com [or http://www.tweetlater.com].
With Tweetbeep, you simply insert a few keyword alerts that potential customers may be tweeting about, then, once a twitterer uses those keywords in a tweet, that tweet is emailed to you. You can then start following that person and reply to that person directly. BAM, instant friend and potential customer.
I must warn you that upon first contact to not spam your book, product or service. Your first contact with this person should be strictly friendly. Let the relationship develop on its own. Believe me, when you first respond to that person, she will look into your profile.
If your smart, you will have your book mentioned in your profile. Many times, your new friend is impressed they are conversing with an author and purchase your book without you even mentioning your book to her.
Author Marlin Bree of Marlor Press sent me the following note about his website:
My website at http://www.marlinbree.com might be of interest to other authors and publishers since was developed to provide information about my activities, books and magazine articles. It has a lot of gorgeous color pictures -- missing in my books -- and it contains downloadable pdf's of my two grand prize-winning articles, based on my book, Broken Seas: True Tales of Extraordinary Seafaring Adventures.
Click on Magazines. For each article, I took a chapter from my book and condensed it down and rewrote it lightly, converting it into a magazine article. The published articles won Boating Writer International's Grand Prize, the West Marine Writers Award, in 2004 and in 2008 --- and I am the only writer to win that award twice. The website itself has been the recipient of the 2002 Golden Web Award.
