reader feedback: public access television
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I received the following email from Arnold Howard of ParagonWeb.com:
Public Access is a good way for authors to get local exposure. During
the 80s I produced videos at the Mesquite Public Access station. As a
volunteer, I learned to operate the cameras and editing equipment.
The station offered citizens the opportunity to produce their own TV
shows, but few people ever responded. I think most people are terrified
to be in front of a TV camera. But that is one of the benefits of having
your own weekly or monthly TV talk show--you get used to being in
front of a camera. This is a priceless benefit for authors who want to
appear on TV and radio to market their books.
a true #1 Amazon.com bestseller
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The American Psychological Association published the new 6th edition of
the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association on
July 1st. In the past two months, over 400,000 copies of that manual
have been sold. In addition, the manual has spent 45+ days in the top
100 bestselling books on Amazon.com (all categories). And, on August
26th, the manual reach the #1 spot.
Now, why isn't your book beating them? It's a style manual for
psychologists (who have no writing style!). A self-help book on any
other subject should outsell such a manual. What are you waiting for?
This manual's success certainly gets me thinking about what more I can
be doing for 1001 Ways to Market Your Books (also in its 6th edition).
